A PASSION FOR SPORTS
Fox Channel 42 Sports Director J. J. Davis, accompanied by his friend Terry Kolar, spoke to Club members about his life experiences as a sportscaster. While growing up in Baltimore, MD, J. J. said he always wanted to be a sportscaster, especially since he was not big enough to be a major sports player. His idols were national sportscasters like Jim McKay, Curt Gowdy, and Brent Musberger. For the past four years J. J. has been covering sports in the Omaha region with uncommon enthusiasm and passion. During the twenty some years before coming to Omaha J. J. worked in numerous locations and had to opportunity to work with several well known sportscasters, coaches, and players. One notable experience was a live broadcast interview with Michael Jordan while he was yet in high school in Wilmington, NC. J. J. acknowledged that Iowa sports get shortchanged in the Omaha telecast market and he promised to address this.
